The more traditional method to prepare a tooth for a crown usually requires two visits to our
Bogota family dentist. At the first visit, we may take a few X-rays to check the roots of your tooth and surrounding bone. Before the process of making a crown begins, we will numb your tooth, before filing it down to make room for your dental crown. After reshaping your tooth, our dentist will use a putty or paste to make an impression of the tooth that is receiving the crown. Usually made of acrylic, a temporary crown is then made to cover and protect your tooth while the crown is being made. At the second visit to Teaneck Dentist, the temporary crown is removed, and your permanent crown will be checked for fit and color. If everything looks and fits perfectly, a local anesthetic will be used to numb your tooth before your beautiful, new crown is permanently cemented in place.
