Partial dentures, also sometimes called removable bridges, are ideal when you have to replace one or just a few teeth. They consist of a plastic base that is colored to resemble your gums. It is then held in with metal frame. Our dentist in Hackensack will take impressions of your mouth and send those to the dental lab, where your partial dentures will be made, after which they will be fitted, and adjusted if necessary. They have clasps on either end to fasten them to the tooth on either side and you will use denture adhesive between your gums and dentures for a more secure fit. Unlike a fixed bridge, your surrounding teeth will not have to be affected at all. In addition to giving you back your full smile, our dentures will prevent your other teeth from shifting, which can cause discomfort and throw off the alignment of your bite.

When all of the teeth are missing on one or both jaws, or most of them, complete dentures are in order. They're made in the same way that partial dentures are made, except that there are two sub-categories of them. Most common are conventional. After all of your remaining teeth have been removed, there will be a waiting period of 6-8 weeks during which your gums will heal and go through a natural shrinking process. This delay allows for a more precise fit of your new dentures by our dentist in Hackensack. With immediate dentures, you get the benefit of not going without for that period of time, but that also means you will need future adjustments to account for the changes your gums will undergo in the next few months.
